Optional Fields are for information that may be useful for the signer to provide when completing their documents, but they are not required to be completed.
At Proof, signer fields are typically tagged by the individual or business creating the transaction and/or by the notary:
- Fields marked as optional by those preparing the documents are labeled as such and are not required to complete the transaction.
- Signer fields may be tagged as optional in documents or document templates for notarizations and other types of transactions.
When determining whether or not to use an optional field, consider whether there are details that could be helpful later, either to the person filling out a document or to the recipient of the completed document. If the answer is yes, optional fields are a great solution!
ℹ️ Notary fields and radio group fields cannot be made optional.
