Need to Know
- Signers must be at least 18 years old to complete a notarization.
- The document being notarized must be intended for use in the U.S.
Identity Evidence & Information
To verify your identity, please have the following items and information ready in advance:
- A U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) - more info below.
- A U.S. address.
- Government-issued photo ID from this list.
- Typically, the system needs at least six (6) months of credit history to generate identification questions.

✅ For those who need to verify their identity and/or notarize documents intended for use within the U.S., you may be required to complete Knowledge-based Authentication (KBA). To help you complete KBA, the Proof platform can accept either a U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN).

Technology
To ensure the Proof platform operates as expected, you'll need:

A device with audio & video capabilities, such as:
- A computer with a webcam, microphone, and speakers
- A mobile device with one of the options listed below

- Mozilla Firefox*
- Google Chrome*
- Safari*
- Microsoft Edge*
- Notarize app for Apple or Android installed on your mobile device:
- Do not use the mobile app for real estate closings or any transaction initiated by a business (You can use your phone by using one of the browsers listed above)
- A strong internet connection
