Follow this guide to obtain your DigiCert digital certificate. You can complete agreements on the platform after you get your certificate.

ℹ️ Before beginning this process, make sure you have 1) a mobile device and 2) a valid form of identification. A passport is the preferred form of ID. If a current passport is not available, use your driver’s license.
Step 1: Initiate the Process Through Your Proof Account
- Log in to your notary account on the Proof platform.
- Click your initials in the upper right corner.
- Choose Manage my account from the dropdown menu that appears.
- Click Notary profile from the left menu.
- Select the Digital Certificate tab.
The required steps to register your DigiCert Certificate with your notary account are listed here. - Type the email address associated with your Proof account in Step 1 on the page and click .
- Check your email account for an email with the subject line, “Verify your identity”
- Select the link in the email to download the version of the IDnow AutoIdent app compatible with your mobile device.
Step 2: Complete the IDnow Identification Process
- Open the IDnow AutoIdent app on your mobile device and enter the validation code from the email into the app. Tap .
- Follow the steps in the app to complete the IDnow identification process. Make sure you have your passport or other form of identification ready.
Step 3: Set Up Your DigiCert Account
- Check your email for communications from DigiCert.
- Open the email with the subject line “Update Your Account” from no-reply@digicert.com and select the button.
- Create a DigiCert password.
- Once the password is successfully updated, you see a screen that confirms your account was updated.
ℹ️ The communications can take up to 30 minutes to receive after completing the IDNow process.
Step 4: Add DigiCert to Your Authenticator App
- Find the message in your email with the subject line “Authorize credential using Authorization QR Code” from no-reply@digicert.com on your computer.
- Open the QR code attached to the email.
- Open Google Authenticator* on your mobile device.
- Tap the plus sign in the bottom right corner of the Google Authenticator application on your mobile device.
- Tap Scan a QR code in the menu that appears.
- Scan the QR code.
- DigiCert appears in your Google Authenticator app (it may be listed as dcone-one) once the code has been scanned and successfully connected.
*If Google Authenticator is not installed on your device, download the Google Authenticator app to your mobile device from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
⚠️ You need this multi-factor authentication set up to log in to your DigiCert account and complete agreements.
Step 5: Validate Your DigiCert Account
- Check your email for a message with the subject line “Validation Approved” from no-reply@digicert.com and select the Log in button.
- Log in to DigiCert and accept the Terms of Use.
The platform directs you to the DigiCert homepage.
Step 6: Connect DigiCert to Your Proof Account
- Log in to your notary account on Notarize with Proof.
- Click your initials in the upper right corner.
- Choose Manage my account from the dropdown menu that appears.
- Click Notary profile from the left menu.
- Select the Digital Certificate tab.
- Click the button under Step 2.
- Type your username and password for DigiCert and click .
- Verify that your DigiCert is uploaded correctly to your notary profile by refreshing Notarize with Proof page. Step 3 should say “Your digital certificate is all set!”
