Every notary who joins the Notarize Network is fully reviewed by our Notary Onboarding team before they are able to conduct notarizations on the Proof platform, starting with an eligibility check in accordance with notarial state laws. All notaries must undergo extensive platform training and pass a notarial knowledge and platform assessment before becoming active on the Proof platform.
Complete the steps outlined in this article if you are a notary in any of these states below, you can complete training and compliance requirements to become an On-Demand Notary (ODN).

Currently, the Proof platform is live for on-demand notaries (ODNs) in the following states:
- Florida
- Nevada
- Pennsylvania
- Texas
- Virginia
Add your name to the waiting list if you are not commissioned in any of these states but would like updates on when your state is live on our platform.
What to expect
The Notary Onboarding team is alerted automatically when you enter and update credentials in your account. We only review new notary accounts for compliance when your profile is complete, including all of the following:
- National Notary Association ID number
- Notary signing agent (NSA) certification
- Valid errors and omissions insurance
- Passing score on Notary Skills Assessment
- Passing score on Platform Training Assessment
If you already have the first 3 items above, follow these instructions to create a Network Notary account. If not, follow the process in this article to prepare to create an on-demand notary profile on the Proof platform.
National Notary Association (NNA) documentation
We check with the NNA to verify your completion of the required notarial training and that an unexpired background screening is on file. This is a requirement to answer on-demand calls on the Proof platform.

Obtain NNA ID number
To obtain an NNA ID number, follow the instructions below.
- Create an NNA account.
- Purchase a background check.
- Purchase NNA training.
Once you complete the NNA background check and training, enter your NNA ID into your Proof notary profile.
Obtain NSA certification
NSA certification is optional for notaries sourcing their own transactions (NSTs) in the states listed above; it is required for all other on-demand notaries.
Proof collects your background check and NNA course completion information when you set up your notary profile. Follow the instructions on the NNA website here for information about NSA certification.
Provide NNA ID number in Proof Account
If you haven't created an account yet, you will be given the opportunity to provide this information when you sign up. If you've already created your account and need to add the NNA information, follow the instruction below.
- Sign in to your Proof notary account.
- Click your initials in the upper right corner of your account.
- Select Manage my account.
- Click Notary profile from the menu on the left.
- Select Commission details under the NNA Information section.
- Type or paste your NNA ID number in the NNA ID Number field.
- Click Refresh dates.
ℹ️ It usually takes up to 48 hours for your newly completed NNA background check and training completion dates to update on NNA’s site.
Errors & omissions insurance
Errors and omissions insurance protects you from liability for false claims or unintentional notarial mistakes or omissions.
To work as an on-demand notary, you must upload a copy of your errors and omissions insurance policy for at least $25,000 to your account and provide the policy expiration date and insurance amount.

Proof Academy Training
Notaries must complete all required training as assigned in their Proof Academy profile to ensure you are well prepared before using the Proof platform. The training consists of:

Notary Skills Assessment
- Measures basic notarial knowledge
- Required, but with unlimited attempts to pass (80% or higher)

Platform Training
- Provides 2-3 hours of content specific to using the Proof platform

Platform Training Assessment
- Required, but with unlimited attempts to pass (80% or higher)
Both the Notary Skills and Platform assessments must be passed to become Platform Certified and gain access to the on-demand queue. Upon completion, you a certificate that can be downloaded, identifying you as a certified notary on the Proof Platform.
