Here's how to upload a document using the Notarize app on your Android or Apple smartphone to start the process of notarization. Once your document is uploaded, tap Let's get started and follow the prompts to complete the rest of the procedure.

Who can use this
This process is for individuals who need to upload a document for themselves and have not been sent a transaction from a business or real estate organization.
If an organization sent you a document to sign, use the link in the email from them (or from noreply@proof.com) to complete the transaction.
iOS
- Create an account or sign in.
- On the My Documents page, tap the + Upload a document button at the bottom.
- Choose one of four upload options and follow the instructions below for that specific method:
Email
- Open the Mail app.
- Find the email with the attachment you want to have notarized.
- Tap the attachment.
- Tap the share button.
- Tap Open in Notarize.
Dropbox
- If you have the Dropbox app installed, select the Dropbox option.
- Select the document you’d like to upload.
- The document will upload automatically.
Share
- Open the document within the app that contains the document you'd like to notarize
- Find and tap the share icon.
- Only apps that support sharing will display this button.
- For Safari, instead of tapping the share button, tap the document and the Open in... button will appear near the top of the screen.
- Choose Open in…
- Select Open in Notarize.
Scan Document
- Select the Scan Document option.
- Provide camera access if prompted.
- Lay the document flat in a vertical orientation and hold your phone in a vertical orientation to match.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to capture an image of the document.
- You will be given the option to rescan if the image is not clear or scan additional pages.
- Once you’ve finished scanning each page of the document, select I’m Finished Scanning.
- Name your document.
- Select the checkmark in the upper right corner.
Android
- Create an account or sign in.
- On the Your Documents page, tap the plus (+) icon in the upper right corner or select Add a File.
- Choose one of five upload options and follow the instructions below for that specific method:
Import from email or other apps
- A screen instructing you how to upload from your email or other apps will appear.
- Once you have read the instructions, click Got It.
Dropbox
- On the Choose File in... screen, select the folder where your file is located.
- Select the file you wish to import.
- The document will be imported automatically.
Import from photo gallery
- Select the file you wish to import.
- Name your document.
- Select Finish and Import.
- The document will be imported automatically.
Share
- Open the document within the app that contains the document you'd like to notarize
- Find and tap the share icon.
- Only apps that support sharing will display this button.
- Select Open in Notarize.
Scan Document
- Select the Scan Document option.
- Provide camera access if prompted.
