Multi-Step Verification is a type of Identity Verification that requires a user to present two or more forms of identification to prove their identity. This can include combinations of the following:
- Something you have (Driver's license, passport, utility bill, etc.)
- Something you know (Personal information, phone number validation, etc.)
- Biometric validation (Comparing a real-time selfie capture to a valid credential/ID provided)
When using Proof, the methods available for verifying a signer's identity vary depending on the state where the notary is commissioned. Notaries often use Multi-Step Verification for Identity Verification.
Multi-Step Verification at Proof includes Credential Analysis and Knowledge-based Authentication. If the notary is commissioned in the state of New York, it also includes Selfie Comparison.
