Signers Can Edit Documents Toggle

Overview

If you are an Admin in your organization, you can set the default for the Signer can edit documents toggle to ON or OFF for new transactions. This toggle controls whether or not Signers can edit documents.

Setting permissions to Yes means the Signer can fill in document toggle will be ON by default for new transactions, and notation tools will be available to signers throughout the pre-meeting flow and during the notary meeting.

Setting permissions to No means the Signer can fill in document toggle will be OFF by default for new transactions, and notation tools will not be avaialable to signers during the pre-meeting flow or during the notary meeting. The only thing signers will be able to do is click to fulfill the fields designated for them.

How to Set Permissions

  1. Log in to your Proof account.
  2. Click ⚙️ Settings from the navigation panel on the left:
    • If you don't see the panel, click the caret to expand it.
  3. Select Transaction Settings from the Settings Menu.
  4. Scroll down to the Signer permissions box.
  5. Select Yes or No
  6. Click .

ℹ️ If you set Signer can edit documents to No/OFF but you attempt to send a document that does not have any fields designated for the signer, you won't be able to send the transaction. In this case, you would see the error message shown below.
⚠️ Before you send, add a signature field for your signers. You must add at least one signature field for each signer before sending.
