Concurrent Signing is when multiple signers meet simultaneously from separate locations and devices in one notary meeting.
ℹ️ A total of ten (10) devices can connect to a meeting. One must be a notary and one must be a signer; the rest can be any combination of participants (signers, real estate contacts, etc.), with a maximum of 2 witnesses.
Concurrent Signing is available for transactions initiated by organizations (Title Agents, Mortgage Lenders, and other business customers of Proof). The Concurrent Signing feature must be enabled by a Proof administrator on behalf of the organization.
Concurrent Signing is not available for retail transactions.
Notes
- Organizations may have Concurrent Signing enabled without allowing their customers to move forward separately. Read Compulsory Concurrent Signings for more information.
- If the signer starts a Concurrent Signing and chooses to move forward instead of waiting in the Waiting Room:
- Additional signers may join after the meeting begins.
- If the first signer completes the meeting without any other signers joining, the meeting becomes part of a Split Signing.
-
Sign Ahead cannot be used with Concurrent Signing. All notations/annotations must be made during the meeting. If co-signers cannot meet simultaneously, or you want to use the Sign Ahead feature, opt for a Split Signing.
- In most cases, notaries can remove a signer from concurrent multi-signer meetings, allowing the meeting to continue as a Split Signing instead of the notary having to terminate the meeting. The notary may elect to remove a signer from a Concurrent Signing if:
- The notary is unable to verify the signer’s identity.
- The notary and signer are unable to resolve technical issues with the meeting.
