Oregon notaries are required to have a Certificate of Authorization from the Oregon Secretary of State to perform remote online notarizations on the Proof platform.
Who needs this
Oregon notaries who create an account on the Proof platform may upload their Certificate of Authorization when they create their account by following the instructions below.
Why it's important
This certificate is a requirement set by Oregon and provides the notary with permission to obtain their electronic seal from a vendor (like Proof).
What needs to be done
Oregon-based notaries need to complete the two steps below:
- Click here for information about how to obtain a Certificate of Authorization from the Oregon Secretary of State.
- Upload the certificate to your Proof account when you create your account.
Add your certificate
When you create your notary account on Proof:
- Click Upload under Upload a copy of your certificate of authorization.
- Select the PDF of your certificate and confirm your choice.
- Click Next.
What happens after submitting
Your account will be submitted for review and no other changes can be made until your commission and certificate are approved by the Notary Onboarding Team.
Review can take up to 2 business days, and you'll receive an email once your account has been reviewed.
