The short answer: Here's how to update a signer's email address and phone number within the Proof–Salesforce integration. This applies to business accounts with the Salesforce integration enabled.
How it works
Organizations can also include an SMS-enabled phone number to send signer notifications via text message. You can customize which Salesforce phone field is used by selecting any available phone field from the related contact or lead record using the SMS Enabled Phone Number dropdown menu — the selected number automatically populates the SMS Number field.
Update signer information
- Select the pencil icon next to the signer whose information you want to update.
- Update the signer's email address and/or phone number as needed.
- (Optional) Select the Update contact information in Salesforce checkbox to save the updated details back to the original Salesforce contact or lead record.
- Select Save or continue with the transaction workflow.
SMS notifications
SMS reminders and notifications are only available when:
- An SMS-capable phone number is provided
- The selected Salesforce field contains a valid mobile number
- The signer's country and carrier support SMS delivery
If an SMS-enabled phone number is unavailable, Proof continues to send signer notifications through email.
Troubleshooting
- SMS notifications unavailable → confirm the selected phone number supports SMS messaging.
- Signer updates not saved back to Salesforce → confirm the Update contact information in Salesforce checkbox was selected.
- Wrong phone number appearing → verify the correct Salesforce phone field was selected in the dropdown menu.
- Signer not receiving notifications → confirm the email address and mobile number are correct.
- Edit option unavailable → confirm your Salesforce user account has the required permissions.
Summary Checklist
- Select pencil icon → update email and/or phone → optionally check Update contact information in Salesforce → Save.
- Email is always required. SMS is optional — requires a valid mobile number and supported carrier.
- Changes do not sync back to Salesforce automatically — check the checkbox if you want them saved.
