Selfie Comparison (also known as biometric verification) is a secure method of identity verification that compares a real-time photo of a signer to the photo on their government-issued ID. This process ensures the person participating in the session matches the identification provided.
As a key component of IAL2-compliant identity verification, Selfie Comparison provides an enhanced layer of security. It may also serve as a secondary verification method if a signer is unable to complete Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA).
How It Works
The platform walks you through everything. Once you're in position, images are captured automatically β though a manual capture button will appear after a short time if you need it. A few things that'll help the process go smoothly:
π© Remove Accessories
Take off any hats, sunglasses, or masks before you start.
π‘ Good Lighting
Find a well-lit spot so the camera can get a clear shot of your face.
π± Use Your Smartphone
If possible, use your smartphone β the camera quality makes a difference.
Verify Your Identity Using Selfie Comparison
Once you've captured photos of your ID, here's how to complete your selfie verification:
1. Start the Selfie Capture +
Select Take photo to kick off the selfie capture process.
2. Center Your Face +
Center your face in the camera and look directly at the lens. The system will capture the image automatically. If it takes a moment, a manual button will appear.
3. Look Left, Then Right +
When prompted, slowly look to the left, then to the right. The system captures images on its own once you're in position. Once your selfie is captured, the system processes it and you'll be prompted to continue.
