Audience: Organizations
The short answer: Command Center owners and admins can deactivate child organizations directly — no need to contact Support. Here's how it works and what to expect.
⚠️
Deactivation is only available in Command Center. Command Center Lite does not support this feature.
What happens when you deactivate a child org
Transactions
- Completed transactions remain visible to parent org admins only and are still included in rolled-up reporting. They are searchable by transaction ID or in the transaction list in the parent org UI. The deactivated org stays associated with them.
- Limited role users can no longer see any transactions associated with the deactivated org.
- Draft transactions remain untouched.
- In-progress transactions expire — signers will no longer be able to access them, reminder emails will stop, and links in any prior reminder emails will stop working. Parent org users can clone an expired transaction to a new org to continue.
Users
- All active users in the org are moved to deactivated status and can no longer log in.
- Deactivated users still appear in Command Center and can be moved or reactivated.
- If the org has active in-house notaries (IHNs), a warning appears during the deactivation flow. IHNs should be moved to another org before deactivation to avoid putting them out of compliance status.
Org switcher and navigation
- The deactivated org is removed from the org switcher for all users.
- Command Center users cannot navigate into the deactivated org — it must be reactivated first to be accessed.
- Deactivated orgs are hidden from org search tools and cannot be selected during the lender–title collaboration process.
- In the Company Directory, deactivated orgs are hidden by default. Update the filter to show them.
Requirements before deactivating
- The org cannot have any active child organizations beneath it — deactivate those first.
- No new child organizations can be created under the org once it is deactivated.
- Users cannot be moved into a deactivated org, but they can be moved out of one.
ℹ️
Move IHN notaries before deactivating. Once an IHN is deactivated along with the org, they are put out of compliance status. The deactivation flow will warn you if active IHNs are present.
