The short answer: If you need to cancel a transaction already sent to signers, you can delete it from Proof or Encompass. Exercise caution before deleting — this action is permanent.

⚠️
Deleted transactions cannot be recovered or restored under any circumstances. If you may need to reference the information later, consider archiving instead.

Delete from Proof

Log in to your Proof account using one of the following:

  • Select the hyperlink on the Proof eClosing form in Encompass.
  • Navigate directly to the transaction in your Proof account (or the Fairfax testing environment for test transactions).

If the transaction is a draft:

  1. Locate the transaction.
  2. Select the trash can icon next to it to delete. This icon only appears for draft transactions.

If the transaction has already been sent: recall it before deleting (this workflow may be limited for online closings depending on the transaction state). See Recall a real estate transaction for more information.

Hybrid transactions can be deleted after completion by selecting Recall → Delete.

Delete from Encompass

⚠️
Deleting a transaction from Encompass also deletes it from Proof.
  1. Select Delete in Encompass to delete the transaction from both Encompass and Proof.

ℹ️
If a hybrid transaction is already completed, select Recall from Signers first before deleting. Use the Replace Order button to update and resend completed transactions. See Replace completed hybrid orders from Encompass.

Summary Checklist

  • Deletion is permanent and irreversible — consider archiving if you may need the data later.
  • Draft in Proof: use the trash can icon. Sent transaction: recall first, then delete.
  • From Encompass: select Delete — this removes the transaction from both Encompass and Proof.
  • Completed hybrid: select Recall from Signers before deleting. To update and resend, use Replace Order.
