The short answer: Notaries can blur or replace their video background during meetings for a more polished, professional appearance. There are three ways to change it: from your A/V settings, during a meeting, or in brand customization settings.

Here's who can use each method:

  • All notaries can blur their background from A/V settings or during a meeting.
  • NSTs and ODNs with NST capabilities can upload a custom background image via brand customization settings.
  • IHNs can upload a custom image only if they have admin permissions for their organization.
  • Organization admins and owners can set the video background for all meetings in brand customization settings.

From Your A/V Settings

All notaries can use this method to blur or replace their background before a meeting.

  1. Select the ? in the upper right corner next to your initials.
  2. Select Check A/V Settings from the menu.

  3. Select the desired video background setting:
    • Partial Blur or Full Blur to blur your background.
    • One of the provided images to replace your background.
  4. Select Confirm camera settings to save.

During the Meeting

To adjust your background setting while a meeting is in progress:

  1. Select the 3 vertical dots in the lower right corner of your own video feed.
  2. Select Check A/V settings from the menu that appears.
  3. Select the desired effect in the Set up audio and video screen.

  4. Select Confirm camera settings to save.

In Brand Customization Settings

Organization admins, owners, NSTs, and eligible IHNs can set a custom video background for all meetings via brand customization settings.

Requirements for a Custom Background

Custom background images must meet the following requirements before uploading:

  • 16:9 ratio or 1280×720 pixels.
  • No transparent background.
  • Must comply with Proof's policies.
If an image with any transparency is uploaded, the system will change the transparent areas to black.

Add a Custom Background

To upload, update, or remove a custom background in brand customization settings:

  1. Select Settings from the left menu in your account.
  2. Select Brand customization.
  3. Select the Video backgrounds tab.
  4. Make the desired change:
    • Select Upload to choose an image from your local drive to display for all meetings.
    • Select Update image to replace the current custom image with a new one.
    • Select Delete to remove the custom image for all meetings.
