The short answer: When you add fields to a document (also called tagging), you're marking exactly what needs to be filled in or signed. This saves time, reduces errors, and makes the signing experience smoother for everyone involved.
If you're a signer, read Prepare a Document After You Upload instead.
How it works
Tagging a document guides your signers so nothing gets missed. Here's what to know before you start:
- For documents that require notarization, signers cannot apply their signature until they're in the live meeting with the notary.
- Depending on your organization's settings, signers may be able to fill out certain fields before the meeting to save time.
- Read about required and optional document fields here.
Read Prepare and Tag Documents for Your Recipients if you're tagging a document for your customers.
