Notary Instructions let you add special instructions to any transaction. Your note creates an action item that prompts the notary to review your instructions before starting the notarization.

Summary Checklist

  • Click +Add instruction in the Signing details section when creating your transaction
  • Type your instructions in the text box that appears
  • Click Save to attach the note to that transaction

How to Add Notary Notes

Notary Notes help you communicate specific requirements or reminders to the notary handling your transaction. Common uses include requesting additional ID verification, requiring witnesses, or sharing your contact information for questions.

Examples of Instructions

  • The signer must provide two forms of ID
  • A witness is required for the notarization
  • Ask the signer to upload a supplemental document during the meeting
  • Your contact information so the notary can reach you if questions arise

Account-Level Instructions

If you want to add the same instructions to all your transactions, you can set up Notary Instructions at the account level. An owner or admin of your account can configure this setting.
