Meet with a notary to sign documents sent by an organization. This article is an overview of how to have your signature notarized when you're signing documents sent by someone else. Read Upload a document to start using Proof if you'd like to upload your own documents.
Creating an account during this process will not subscribe you to any email lists; your account is purely for security purposes to protect and access completed documents.
⚠️ If any information is incorrect on your transaction and you cannot edit it, contact the organization that sent the document about corrections.
Who this is for
The information and/or process below applies to all users on the Proof platform.
What you need
To meet with a notary and complete an online notarization transaction on the Proof platform, you need the following items:
- U.S. Social Security number for knowledge-based authentication
- Government-issued photo ID for credential analysis
- A valid email address
- A computer with audio/video capabilities
📝 Note: Documents may have specific ID requirements for notarization. If this is the case, please follow the document instructions. Here is a list of acceptable forms of ID for most documents.
What to expect
Some businesses may pre-populate the document with your information. If the form is not pre-populated, you may fill out the document using our digital tools prior to launching the call with our notary. There may be sections of the document which need to be completed by the notary. In this case, please leave these sections blank.
If you start the process but can't finish it, log in to your account and resume the process. If the business that sent you the document is paying for the transaction, look for the Sign for free button in your account.
Payment
The final cost of your transaction may depend on the business that directed you to Proof. Some businesses may also choose to pay for the transaction so you don't have to. If you're not sure, reach out to your contact at the business who sent you the documents to confirm.
