Audience: Recipients

The short answer: You can upload or replace a document during your notary meeting when prompted by your notary — from a computer or a mobile device.

What to expect before you upload

The notary may ask you to upload a document for one of two reasons:

  • The company that sent your transaction needs additional documents to complete your package.
  • The original document was uploaded incorrectly (missing a page, crooked scan, etc.).

If your document is sideways or upside down after uploading, you can rotate it after upload.

If you're replacing the original document, your notary will reject it first so the new version can be completed in its place.

To use this feature, you'll need to:

  • Have a personal account (not a business account).
  • Be prompted by the notary to upload the document.

Once your notary prompts you, select your device type below for step-by-step instructions on how to upload your document.

  • A document uploader window will appear on your screen.

    1. Select the upload box to browse for your file, or drag and drop it into the dotted region.
    2. Select Submit Document to send it to your notary.

  • Once your notary prompts you, a pop-up will appear with two options: Upload a Document or Scan with Camera.

    • Scan: Follow the steps to scan a document via mobile web.
    • Upload: The document uploader will appear. Select it to browse and select a file from your phone.
  • Once your notary prompts you, a pop-up will appear with the Upload a Document option.

    1. Minimize the Notarize app and save the document to your phone's files.
    2. Reopen the Notarize app, select Import from Files, and select your document.
    3. Choose your file and select Select to upload it.
