SoftPro integration setup instructions

Audience: Organizations

The short answer: SoftPro customers can integrate SoftPro with Proof to digitize the home buying process, reduce closing times, and improve operational efficiency. Follow the steps below to complete the setup.

What you need

Before you begin, generate a full-access API key in your Proof account.

For multiple users

  • You can use the same API key to send transactions or orders from SoftPro to Proof, since API keys are mapped to one specific Proof account.
  • Any user using the integration for the first time will need to input this API key.

If your security protocols require individual API keys, an admin can generate the appropriate number of keys from the API Key menu and securely distribute them to your users.

For child organizations: You will need to use the child API key to send transactions to that account from SoftPro. Routing transactions to child accounts via the parent account is not currently supported.

How it works

Documents are automatically returned to SoftPro upon completion of the transaction.

If you use in-house notaries

To assign the transaction to one of your in-house notaries (IHNs), choose Review document package on Notarize's website prior to submitting for signing under Submission Options in SoftPro. Within the transaction in Proof, select an internal company notary.

When the signer attempts to connect with a notary, their meeting request will appear for all available internal company notaries. Any available notary can accept the meeting. In this scenario, enabling overflow is also recommended.

1. Connect SoftPro to Proof

  1. Open the Proof integration window in SoftPro by navigating to 360 > Services.
  2. Double-select Proof - Verify Identity | Notarize Online | eSign.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Select Login.

  5. Paste your API key.
  6. Check the box next to Remember Me.
  7. Select OK.

2. Document tagging options

You can tag your documents in two ways.

Option 1: Using white text tagging, in one of two ways:

  1. Recommended: Connect with the SoftPro Documents team to set up your templates in SoftPro with Proof white text tagging syntax (an additional charge from SoftPro).
  2. Add white text tagging to your documents on your own. Read about Proof White Text Tagging.

Option 2: Manually tag documents for each transaction:

  • Select the radio button for Review document package on Notarize's website before submitting for signing under Submission Options in SoftPro when setting up your document in Proof.

3. Test your SoftPro–Proof integration

To confirm the connection is working, complete the following:

  1. Create an order in SoftPro using your employee as the signer.
  2. Select transaction type eSign. (Ensure there are no notary tags on your test document — notary tags will cause an error.)
  3. Submit the order as usual.
  4. Verify that the transaction is created in the Notarize with Proof web portal.
  5. Verify that your employee can sign the documents.
  6. Verify that you can retrieve documents in SoftPro after the employee has signed.

Summary Checklist

  • Generate a full-access API key in your Proof account before starting.
  • Connect SoftPro to Proof via 360 > Services and enter your API key.
  • Choose your document tagging method: white text tagging (recommended) or manual tagging per transaction.
  • Test the integration using an eSign transaction with an employee as the signer — no notary tags on the test document.
