Supplemental documents provide additional information to recipients. These documents are not required to be signed during the Proof meeting and are requested by the person who created the transaction to be added to the complete package.
Notaries prompt the signer to upload supplemental documents during the meeting. Examples of supplemental documentation include:
- A financial institution may require a certificate of death to accompany a notarization they initiated for the beneficiary of their deceased client.
- A receipt proving the purchase may be required to settle a consumer dispute.
Supplemental documents are added at the end of the completed package.
Who can use this
Any user in your organization who can create and send transactions and notaries sourcing transactions (NSTs) can perform the steps below.

Indicate supplemental documents are needed
When this feature is enabled, follow the steps below to taken to receive the documents in one package:
- Instruct the notary to prompt the signer for the supplemental documents during the meeting via a Notary Note:
- Inform your customers to be prepared to upload the supplemental documents. If you'd like to add a reminder, you can add a personalized note when you initially send the notarization and/or use a reminder email.)
