Audience: Organizations

The short answer: Buffer time controls how early signers can access a scheduled meeting. When enabled, signers can only join within a defined window before the meeting start time — by default, signers can access at any time.

How It Works

Buffer time controls when signers can access a scheduled transaction relative to the meeting start time:

  • Off (default): Signers can access the transaction at any time before the meeting. This is the default for all accounts.
  • On: Signers can only access the transaction within the defined buffer window before the meeting.
Example: If buffer time is enabled and set to 15 minutes, and a meeting is scheduled for 11:00 AM, the signer can join as early as 10:45 AM.

Adjust Buffer Time

⚠️
This feature must be enabled by Proof. If you're interested, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or the Proof sales team.

If you have this feature enabled and would like to adjust the buffer time, reach out to the Proof support team.

If you are a notary sourcing your own transactions (NST), buffer time is automatically set to allow signers to join only at the designated meeting time.

Summary Checklist

  • Buffer time is Off by default — signers can access the transaction at any time before the meeting.
  • When enabled, signers can only join within the defined buffer window before the meeting start.
  • Contact your CSM or Proof sales team to enable or adjust buffer time for your account.
  • NSTs: buffer time is automatically set to restrict access to the designated meeting time.
