After you upload a file, set the document requirements for the signer to properly complete the document.
Who can do this
Users who have access to send transactions can set requirements for documents in a draft transaction.
Only owners, admins, and team members can set requirements for documents in templates.

How it works
When you make selections for document requirements, the Proof platform enforces them.
The image below shows the requirements available. You can hover over each symbol in your account to see what they mean, and we will define them here.
Here's what the symbols mean, from left to right:
Symbol and description | Meaning | Explanation |
Seal |
Notarization required |
This must be checked to send the notarization request. If notarization is not required, send a transaction for eSignature instead to send the document to be signed without a notary. This box is checked by default. |
Person |
Verification of fact required | A verification of fact is a notarial act used for some specific documents. |
Pencil with box |
Signer can fill in document |
Signers can fill in text fields, use check boxes, or select radio button(s) that were placed. They cannot sign or initial without the notary present. This box is checked by default. |
Eye |
Witness required |
The signer may provide any witnesses required by the document, or notaries can add witnesses during the meeting for an additional cost. |
Select requirements
After you upload files to a transaction, each document has its own set of requirements to the right of the document for you to choose from.
- Check or uncheck the boxes to select what is needed for each document.
