The short answer: You can upload a document for notarization directly from the Notarize mobile app using email, cloud storage, sharing from another app, or your phone's camera.

This process is for individuals uploading a document for themselves who have not been sent a transaction from a business or real estate organization. If an organization sent you a document to sign, use the link in the email from them (or from noreply@proof.com) to complete the transaction.

iOS
- Create an account or sign in.
- On the My Documents page, tap the + Upload a document button at the bottom.
- Choose one of four upload options and follow the instructions below for that specific method.
Option A: Email +
- Open the Mail app.
- Find the email with the attachment you want to have notarized.
- Tap the attachment.
- Tap the share button.
- Tap Open in Notarize.
Option B: Dropbox +
- If you have the Dropbox app installed, select the Dropbox option.
- Select the document you'd like to upload.
- The document will upload automatically.
Option C: Share +
- Open the document within the app that contains the document you'd like to notarize.
- Find and tap the share icon.
- Only apps that support sharing will display this button.
- For Safari, instead of tapping the share button, tap the document and the Open in... button will appear near the top of the screen.
- Choose Open in…
- Select Open in Notarize.
Option D: Scan Document +
- Select the Scan Document option.
- Provide camera access if prompted.
- Lay the document flat in a vertical orientation and hold your phone in a vertical orientation to match.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to capture an image of the document.
- You will be given the option to rescan if the image is not clear or scan additional pages.
- Once you've finished scanning each page of the document, select I'm Finished Scanning.
- Name your document.
- Select the checkmark in the upper right corner.
Android
- Create an account or sign in.
- On the Your Documents page, tap the plus (+) icon in the upper right corner or select Add a File.
- Choose one of six upload options and follow the instructions below for that specific method.
Option A: Import from Email or Other Apps +
- A screen instructing you how to upload from your email or other apps will appear.
- Once you have read the instructions, click Got It.
Option B: Dropbox +
- On the Choose File in... screen, select the folder where your file is located.
- Select the file you wish to import.
- The document will be imported automatically.
Option C: Import from Photo Gallery +
- Select the file you wish to import.
- Name your document.
- Select Finish and Import.
- The document will be imported automatically.
Option D: Share +
- Open the document within the app that contains the document you'd like to notarize.
- Find and tap the share icon.
- Only apps that support sharing will display this button.
- Select Open in Notarize.
Option E: Scan Document +
- Select the Scan Document option.
- Provide camera access if prompted.
- Lay the document flat in a vertical orientation and hold your phone in a vertical orientation to match.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to capture an image of the document.
- You will be given the option to rescan if the image is not clear or scan additional pages.
- Once you've finished scanning each page of the document, select I'm Finished Scanning.

Option F: Google Drive +
- Select the account from which you'd like to import a file.
- Tap OK.
- Choose the file you wish to upload and tap Select.
- Name your document.
- Tap Finish and Import.
- The document will be imported automatically.
