The short answer: When a transaction has more than one signer, your documents are released only after every signer has finished. You can't download, print, or share the completed documents before then, but you have a way forward.
1. What “Waiting on a Signatory” Means
Your part is done, but another signer on the transaction hasn't finished yet. Proof releases the finished documents once the last signer completes their session, so nobody gets a partial copy. The status doesn’t change until then.
2. Choose What Fits Your Situation
You Uploaded the Document Yourself +
The next step depends on whether the other signer is needed.
Have the other signer finish
Ask the other signer to open the invitation email from Proof and complete their session. If they lost their connection, they can finish in a separate session later. Once they finish, the documents are available to everyone on the transaction.
Or start a new transaction for just you
If the document only needs your signature, upload it again and start a new transaction with only you as the signer. Signers can’t be removed from a transaction that has already started, so the original stays as it is. A new transaction is a new notarization, so standard fees apply.
An Organization Sent You the Transaction +
Contact the organization that sent you the transaction, such as a title company or lender, to coordinate next steps. They can see the transaction and work with the other signer.
Summary Checklist
- Check whether another signer on the transaction hasn't finished.
- If you uploaded the document, ask the other signer to finish, or start a new transaction for only you.
- If an organization sent the transaction, contact them to coordinate.
