Audience: Everyone

The short answer: Individual users can delete their own account if they meet specific eligibility criteria.

If your account is associated with an organization's account, contact the owner or administrator of the organization's Proof account instead.

Who Can Do This

Self-service account deletion is available to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Verified their email address
  • Created their own account to complete their own transaction (they were not sent a transaction by a business)
  • Are not associated with an organization account at Proof
  • Do not have completed transactions in their account, OR the completed transactions only include them as the signer
If you don't meet the criteria for self-service deletion, you can submit a form to the Privacy Team to request that your account be deleted.

How It Works

When your account is deleted, the transaction still exists, however:

  • Your personal data, including IP addresses, is completely wiped out (replaced with stars).
  • Documents are no longer viewable.
  • Any third-party vendors are contacted to remove photos of your IDs.
  • The transaction is no longer searchable by your personal information, including email address. This record is findable using the transaction ID; no user data is displayed.
⚠️
If you completed transactions with a notary, your information remains in the notary's journal, which is their personal property. Notary journals on the Proof platform cannot be tampered with or deleted.

  4. If your account isn't eligible for self-service deletion, you'll be directed to a privacy request form instead. The Privacy Team may need to verify your identity — allow up to 10 business days for a response.
