The short answer: Open your invitation email and complete the required identity checks — no document signing or notary meeting needed.
This article is for individuals who receive an invitation from an organization to confirm their identity through an Identify transaction. These transactions do not require signing a document or meeting with an agent or notary.

How It Works
The organization chooses how they'd like your identity verified and sends the transaction. You receive their invitation from noreply@proof.com with a link to begin. Depending on their selections, you may be asked to complete one or more of the following:
- Knowledge-based authentication quiz
- Credential analysis using a photo of your ID
- A secondary form of identification
- Selfie photos captured from your mobile device
Your verification results are shared with the organization when you complete the process.
Confirm Your Identity
The steps below show the full process as if all forms of verification are required. Your experience may differ depending on what the organization selected for your transaction.
1. Open the Invitation Email
Select the Get started button in the email from noreply@proof.com.
2. Begin Verification
Click Verify now.
3. Verify Your Phone Number
Enter the code sent to your phone to confirm your number.
4. Confirm Your Name
Review and confirm your name as it appears on file.
5. Enter Your Personal Information
Provide your date of birth and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. Enter your birth date in MM-DD-YYYY format. For example, July 12, 1989 should be entered as 07-12-1989.
6. Select Continue
Click Continue to proceed.
7. Enter Your Address
Provide your current or former U.S. address, then click Continue.
8. Complete Identity Verification
Complete the required verification method(s) selected by the organization:
- Knowledge-based authentication: Click Start now to answer questions unique to you. Read more about the knowledge-based authentication quiz.

Credential analysis: Select the device you'd like to use to capture your ID, click Continue, and follow the prompts to take photos.
- Selfie photos: Follow the prompts to take photos of yourself with your device. Read Capture selfie photos for identity verification for detailed instructions.
9. Receive Confirmation
A confirmation screen appears when you've completed the process. A notification is automatically emailed to you and the sender with the results.

Summary Checklist
- Check your email from noreply@proof.com for the invitation link
- Have your government-issued ID ready for credential analysis, if required
- Have your Social Security number (last 4 digits) and date of birth ready
- Use a mobile device if selfie photos are required
- Complete all required steps — your results are automatically shared with the organization when you finish
