The short answer: Yes. Turn on Chrome Translate before you open your invitation, and you can complete your entire online notarization in Spanish, including a meeting with a Spanish-speaking notary. The invitation email and the eSign Consent and Disclosure stay in English, and Proof doesn’t translate your documents.
1. Turn On Chrome Translate
On a Computer +
Add Spanish as a language
Open Chrome and go to Settings > Languages > Add languages. Choose Spanish, then select Move to the top.
Display Chrome in Spanish (optional)
On Windows, check Display Google Chrome in this language and relaunch Chrome. On a Mac, Chrome follows your system language.
Turn on translation
Turn on Use Google Translate, then set Translate into this language to Spanish.
Open your invitation
Select the link in your Proof email, then choose Spanish in the Translate box.
On a Phone or Tablet +
In the Chrome app, go to Settings > Languages. Add Spanish and turn on Translate pages.
2. What Is in Spanish and What Stays in English
| What you see | Language |
|---|---|
| Landing page and instructions, including the Notarize Now button | Spanish |
| Document review, signature, and initials | Spanish |
| Identity verification, including knowledge-based questions and photo ID capture | Spanish |
| Notary video call prompts | Spanish |
| Post-meeting review and download | Spanish |
| Invitation and signer emails (sent from noreply@proof.com) | English |
| eSign Consent and Disclosure | English |
| Your documents | Not translated by Proof |
3. What to Expect at Each Step
Step 1: Open Your Invitation +
Select the link in your Proof email. The email arrives in English from noreply@proof.com. Your invitation page opens in Spanish and shows the four steps ahead, with an estimate of about 20 minutes.
Select Notarizar ahora (Notarize Now) to start. The logo and button color of the organization that sent your documents appear on every screen.
Step 2: Review and Sign Your Documents +
Review each document before you sign. Document navigation, the field counter, instructions, and the main button are in Spanish. The eSign Consent and Disclosure stays in English, even if your other documents are in Spanish.
When you’re ready to sign, Confirmar firma shows the signature we have on file. Use it, or select Crear nuevo to create a new one. Then review Aceptar términos and select Aceptar y firmar.
Step 3: Verify Your Identity +
Enter your information
Enter your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your SSN or ITIN.
Confirm your location
Confirm that you’re physically at the address you entered. We record this in the notary’s journal, and it doesn’t affect your notarization.
Answer the questions
You have 2 minutes and 2 attempts to answer 5 multiple-choice questions. You need at least 4 correct answers to pass.
If you don’t pass, wait times can apply before you can try again. See Knowledge-Based Authentication for retake times and troubleshooting tips.
Capture your photo ID
Choose your country and ID type, such as a driver’s license. Proof guides you through taking a clear photo of the front of your ID, and the photo is captured automatically.
Use your phone if you prefer
To capture your ID on your phone, scan the QR code on your screen. You don’t need to download an app.
Step 4: Meet the Notary +
Before you select Join now, select Comunícate con un notario hispanohablante to meet with a Spanish-speaking notary.
During the call, the meeting chat and the audio and video prompts appear in Spanish.
Step 5: Finish and Download +
Complete the post-meeting review, then download your notarized documents from the final download prompt.
4. If Your Wait for a Spanish-Speaking Notary Is Long
Spanish-speaking notary availability can vary. If your wait runs long, you can leave the meeting and start a new one with an English-speaking notary.
